SKIN PROBLEMS
Bullies suffer from time to time with skin
problems, sometimes its as mild as hives (small bumps on the skin) which can
be treated with Piriton (or supermarket own brands which are exactly the
same but a lot cheaper) Some suffer badly with feet usually made worse by
wet grass, the feet are red and sore with blisters or more often cysts that
are pus filled between the toes (Interdigital Cysts). Many bullies bad feet has been treated with great
results with a product called Camrosa which really does work a treat on
bullies -

or
Herbaticus Supliments also work with bullies, read on for more
information.
Some skin problems are much more severe and leaves
not just your bully in distress but also very distressing to watch him
suffer, many people have had to resort to letting there bully go to
Rainbow Bridge to stop the awful suffering. I had read a few stories of
bullies suffering with severe skin and with the use of a herbal
treatment managed to get them better again, but it wasn't until I was
asked to help with such a case that I witnessed the extreme distress it
causes and the wonderful results of the herbal treatment.
In April 2008 I was asked to help with Sonny a three
year old male bully who had developed open sores around his body the worst
was his neck, (pictures at bottom of page) the sores were open and weeping some were filled with pus he
was in an awful state, he was depressed and very sad, his owner said he had
been loosing weight but was eating well. I had him stay with me and had to
wash his bedding daily because the blood and crap from his wounds were
dripping constantly. His vet had originally treated him with Fusiderm which
had no effect at all, in desperation the owner spoke to Juliet Shaw from
Badlesmere whom his friend had recommended and she advised a very good
Dermatologist. Sonny was taken to see the specialist who prescribed him Marbocyl - 50mg a day, Clomicalm - 80mg a day - Malaseb baths daily to start
with a Humilac rinse and Stronghold monthly. Although a good start I
knew from the stories I had read that this wasn't going to be enough, it may
cure the now but this problem would rear its ugly head again pretty much
after the Marbocyl had finished. Juliet sent Sonny's owner to me as he
was looking for him to have some proper care that he couldn't give him
at that time, so I took him in and started to try and get him better, I
contacted a couple of people whom I knew had been through this and then
spoke to Sonny's owner who agreed to try the Herbal remedies. I contacted Herbaticus and ordered the supplements Sonny needed, they came the next day
and we started them along side the conventional medicine and a good daily
dose of my special bully smoothie (
Smoothie recipe)
and a raw food diet of Tripe, Chicken Wings and Minced Beef. and fish. Within 3 days
of Sonny taking the supplements along with the conventional medication and change of
diet I was able to stop the Clomicalm as Sonny was so very much brighter in
himself, where at first he didn't want to get up to greet anyone he just
wanted to be left alone in his crate he was now excited to see people and
wanted to sit up on the sofa for a cuddle, it was difficult to stroke him
because I didn't want to touch his sore bits I was scared I might hurt him
but within a week his skin was drying up and all weeping had stopped, by the
end of the first week he was being bathed twice a week and by the end of
week 3 just once a week. After 9 days Sonny's skin was beginning to heal it
was dry to touch I could stroke him all over without fear of hurting him, he
was able to wear a rope lead and go out for a walk and what's more he wanted
to go out, he wanted to play and run around he was just a different dog
altogether. 4 weeks on and his skin was healing beautifully, his fur had
started to grow back and Sonny is a very happy, cheeky, normal bully boy who
loves to play, run and really enjoys his walks, he can now wear a soft
collar without any irritation. At 6 weeks Sonny's fur had grown back there
is still a slight discoloration in some of his fur and that will hopefully
change once he has moulted.
It will be a couple of months yet before
Sonny is completely healed and he will have to take the Wow supplement daily
but will be able to stop the others, and stick to a good raw diet he should
be fine, having Sonny stay has shown me how devastating it is to watch a dog
suffer such an horrendous skin condition and I really understand how people
make the painful decision to release a dog from such misery, but that there is light at the end
of the tunnel and treatment available. Herbaticus is a wonderful treatment
that is saving bullies lives, Fanny Philbert at Herbaticus is an
extremely knowledgeable lady who will happily run along side whatever your
Dermatologists suggests or without conventional medication whatever the case
may be. Fanny is very helpful and will guide you through your
dogs recovery.
